In the Run box type "regedit". (Without the quote marks). Click the OK button.

Once the regedit program opens, click the arrow to the left of the listing for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.

Once that tree expands, sroll down to the listing for lnkfile and click on it to highlight it. In the right side window you will see a listing for IsShortcut. Right click on this. 

You can now do one of two things. You can either Delete this key or you can Rename it. (I Rename it so as so keep it if I decide to change it back. Not likely though). 

You Rename it, (or comment it out), by placing a semi colon, (;), in front of the IsShortcut. (No space. Should now read ;IsShortcut). Click in an open space to close the renaming box.

Go back to the left column and scroll down to the listing for piffile and do the same as above. 

Collapse the tree listing if you want, (If you don't, regedit will open at the same place as you leave it), and exit the registry editor. 

You may have to reboot for the changes to take effect.
